Hi, I’m Grits! I’m a 10-year-old gentle giant with a calm, easygoing vibe. I love nothing more than hanging out with my humans — whether I’m sunbathing in the yard or stretched out at your feet while you relax on the couch. Being close to you is my favorite place to be.
I get along great with other dogs and even cats. I’m a mellow guy, but I do enjoy a short, friendly game of chase with the other dogs — and I’ll admit, I like to chase a squirrel now and then, just for fun!
I move around pretty well for a senior! I can handle the five steps at my foster home with no problem, though a full flight of stairs would be tougher for me. I can still get up on the bed for snuggles — and trust me, I never turn those down.
My favorite things are simple: belly rubs, treats, soft places to nap, and being near the people I love. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion who will always be by your side, I’d love to be your new best friend.

Mixed with Lab… and a whole lot of love! Middie (short for Midnight) is a happy, affectionate one-year-old black lab mix who’s ready to brighten your days and snuggle away your nights.
Middie is the best of both worlds: active-energy and playful when it’s time to walk, fetch, or chase squeaky toys — but also an expert cuddler when it’s time to wind down. She’ll curl up at your feet (or, ideally, right next to you!) and stay content for hours.
This smart girl is food-motivated and eager to please. She already knows sit, lay down, touch, and look, and she’s working hard on stay. She came to us a little mischievous — as all clever pups do — but she’s learning quickly with positive reinforcement and consistency.
Her floppy ears are irresistibly cute, and her curious nature means she finds joy in everything from puzzle toys to belly rubs. While she’s still mastering her manners (especially with jumping when excited), she’s making great progress and showing how trainable she really is.
