Pepper — Healing, Growing, and Ready to Love
I’m a beautiful girl with soulful eyes and a personality that’s equal parts silly and sweet. I love being near my people whether we’re relaxing on the couch, playing hide‑and‑seek, or just hanging out together. I’m smart, expressive, and full of charm.
I have some adorable quirks that make me one of a kind: I love my stuffed blue octopus and carry it around like it’s my best friend. I gather all my toys into my bed so I can be surrounded by them, it’s my happy place! I also ask permission before hopping on the couch (manners matter!) and I love playing with the water hose.
I take my job of looking out for my people seriously if someone’s at the door, I’ll let you know! I’m also working on staying calm when I see dogs or strangers and my foster family says I’m making progress but this is an area that still needs work.
My foster parents have been working hard to help me feel my best. When I came to Lab Rescue, I had lots of hair loss, dry skin, overweight and long toenails but thanks to their care and love, I’m healing beautifully and feeling so much better.
My ideal home would be one with loving, patient humans who’ll continue helping me with my reactivity training and cheer me on as I keep learning. I’d do well in a quieter environment — not too busy or city‑like — where I can relax and feel secure.
If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, and devoted companion who’ll fill your home with love and laughter, I’m your girl.
FROM THE TRAINER :
There's something so special about Pepper that pulls you in. She definitely has a one-of-a-kind personality.
She's incredibly sweet and affectionate- you can literally feel the love as she presses her head into your hand! She has the most expressive eyes, and somehow always seems to be looking at you with so much trust and love. Then, just when your heart has completely melted, she’ll do something wonderfully goofy that has everyone laughing.
She's loyal to her people, rides beautifully in the car, is well-behaved for baths, and loves a good sniffy walk and splashing around in the water. We're working on building her confidence around unfamiliar people and dogs and that's going very well.
Whoever chooses this girl is going to have an incredibly devoted best friend.

Grits – An Easygoing Gentleman Who Loves the Simple Life
Hi, I’m Grits! I’m an 11-year-old gentle soul with a calm, relaxed personality and a heart full of quiet loyalty. I’m the kind of dog who is happy just being part of your day — whether that means hanging out nearby while you relax, or enjoying some peaceful time outside.
I’m a nice balance of independent and social. I enjoy being around my people and my dog friends, but I’m also perfectly content doing my own thing. I really don’t ask for much — just a comfortable place to rest, a few treats, and a family to call my own.
I get along well with other dogs and can be playful at times, but I’m also happy to sit back and watch the younger pups run around and have their fun. One of my favorite places is the yard, where I love to stroll, relax, and soak up the sunshine.
I’m friendly, quiet, and easy to live with. I get around just fine and enjoy life at a comfortable pace. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion who will bring calm and companionship to your home, I might be the perfect match for you.

Meet Fetcher – The Ball Is Life Lab
Fetcher is a handsome chocolate Lab, estimated to be 5-6 years old, weighing about 75 pounds. This sweet boy has a calm, affectionate nature indoors but comes alive the moment he gets outside—especially if a ball is involved.
Fetcher is the type of dog who loves being close to his people. Around the house he’s relaxed, content to follow you from room to room, settle nearby, or curl up for some quiet companionship. He’s affectionate, eager to please, and enjoys simply being part of the household routine.
Outside is where Fetcher’s playful side really shines. His absolute favorite thing in the world is his ball—and when it appears, he’s all in! Toss it once and you’ll quickly see how focused and enthusiastic he can be. Fetcher loves a good game of fetch and will happily chase his ball again and again. Because he gets so excited during playtime, he’s currently learning that calm behavior gets the ball thrown, which helps him manage his excitement.
Overall, Fetcher is a friendly, affectionate, slightly goofy Lab who loves his people and thrives with structure and activity. With the right balance of exercise, leadership, and plenty of fetch sessions, he will make an incredibly loyal and fun companion.
Axel

At a Glance:
-
10 years | 88 lbs | Medium Energy
-
Dog Friendly: Yes
-
Cat Friendly: No
-
Kid Recommendations: Has done well with young children; respectful and gentle
-
Home Needs: Yard preferred, would enjoy a home with people who are around often and enjoy cuddling
If you've been searching for a loyal companion who believes there is no such thing as too much affection, we'd love to introduce you to Axel.
At 10 years young, Axel is the definition of a well-balanced Labrador gentleman. This handsome 88-pound black Lab has settled into foster care as if he's lived there his entire life, joining a household with four other dogs without missing a beat. Easygoing, confident, and wonderfully calm, Axel brings a peaceful presence wherever he goes.
His favorite place? Right next to his people.
Axel loves attention and affection and will happily lean into you for scratches, cuddles, and quality time. His foster family affectionately describes him as a "weighted blanket with a heartbeat" because he loves being close and makes every snuggle session better. Whether he's hanging out on the deck with his foster dad, relaxing around the house, or curling up beside you at bedtime, Axel is happiest when he's near his humans.
Don't let his age fool you—this senior still enjoys a good game of fetch and can chase after a ball with enthusiasm. He proudly carries his ball around the yard, although returning it is one thing and giving it back is another! A couple of short walks and some playtime each day are plenty to keep him happy.
Axel is house-trained, crate-trained, rides well in the car, walks nicely on leash, and has excellent manners in the home. He knows basic commands, is food-motivated, and has proven to be a very easy foster guest. Aside from some typical age-related arthritis managed with Carprofen, he is healthy and enjoying life.
He gets along well with other dogs and is currently living peacefully with both male and female canine companions. While he's dog-friendly, Axel doesn't need another dog in his forever home. He's independent with other dogs and would be perfectly content as your one-and-only or with a calm, neutral canine sibling.
Axel has met young children and was gentle, relaxed, and respectful. He enjoys their attention but isn't pushy or demanding. Because he does enjoy chasing rabbits and chipmunks in the yard, a home without cats would be best.
After losing his home through no fault of his own, Axel is looking for a family that will give him what he loves most: companionship, affection, and a soft place to land. In return, he'll provide unwavering loyalty, endless cuddles, and the kind of steady friendship that only a wonderful senior Lab can offer.
If your idea of the perfect day includes a devoted best friend by your side, Axel may be the missing piece you've been looking for.
Tanner

Must Knows:
-
Age: 1–2 years | Weight: 69 lbs | Energy Level: High / Active
-
Dog Friendly: Yes! Loves playing with other dogs, especially female dogs.
-
Cat Friendly: Unknown
-
Kids: Best with children ages 8+ due to his enthusiastic puppy energy.
-
Home Needs: Fenced yard preferred, active family, committed to continued training, another playful dog would be a bonus.
This handsome yellow Lab is everything people love about young Labradors—happy, affectionate, athletic, a little goofy, and completely devoted to his people. At just 1–2 years old, Tanner is still very much a puppy at heart, and he approaches life with endless enthusiasm, curiosity, and a tennis ball never far from his mind.
🎾 Speaking of tennis balls... Tanner absolutely lives for fetch. If there's a tennis ball nearby, you've instantly become his favorite person! He'll happily chase, retrieve, and repeat for as long as you're willing to throw. It's his favorite game and one of the easiest ways to bond with him.
Tanner is an active boy who would love a family that enjoys daily walks, backyard games, and outdoor adventures. His foster family currently takes him on two one-mile walks each day, plus several backyard fetch sessions, and Tanner is always ready for more fun. He also enjoys stuffed Kongs, sniffy walks, and exploring everything around him.
Despite all that energy, Tanner has a wonderfully sweet side. Once the excitement settles down, he's perfectly happy curling up beside his people for snuggles. He does a great job matching the energy in the home—joining in when the kids are playing but happily relaxing when everyone else is winding down.
Tanner gets along beautifully with other dogs and has lived successfully with two older female Labs. He reads canine body language well, adjusts his play style to match his friends, and would likely enjoy having a playful canine companion. He could also do well as an only dog if his family is committed to giving him plenty of exercise, enrichment, and attention.
Like many young dogs, Tanner is still learning about the world. He can be a little timid in new situations and sometimes "army crawls" or pancakes when he's unsure. The wonderful news is that his confidence has grown tremendously in foster care, and with patient encouragement, he continues to blossom every day.
Because he's still young, Tanner will benefit from continued training. He's incredibly people-oriented and eager to please, and while he doesn't know many commands yet, he's highly motivated by play—especially tennis balls! As he discovers how great treats can be, training should become even easier.
His future family should know that Tanner is still in his "curious puppy" stage. If left loose while home alone, he may decide that shoes, remotes, toys, or other household items look like perfectly reasonable chew toys. Puppy-proofing the house and providing appropriate toys will set him up for success while he continues to mature. He isn't destructive out of malice—he's simply a young Lab who sometimes makes questionable life choices!
Other things to love about Tanner:
🐾 Affectionate and incredibly loving
🐾 Goofy enough to accidentally run around with a dining room chair stuck on his back while chasing a ball
🐾 Great on car rides once he's inside (he's just a little nervous getting in and out)
🐾 Sleeps quietly on the floor beside your bed all night
🐾 Does well for baths and veterinary visits
🐾 Has made wonderful progress with house training and can comfortably hold it for 6–8 hours
Tanner's ideal home includes an active family, a fenced yard where he can run and play fetch, children ages 8 and older, and people who understand that young Labs need exercise, patience, and guidance. In return, you'll get an endlessly entertaining best friend who will fill your home with laughter, love, and plenty of happy tail wags.

Meet Pluto!
Pluto is a handsome one-year-old Lab mix with a gentle heart and an incredible story. After arriving at the shelter as a stray, he escaped during transport and survived on his own for five hot summer days before finally approaching a family for help. Since joining his foster home, Pluto has been learning that people can be trusted, and watching his confidence grow has been a joy.
At home, Pluto is calm, polite, and wonderfully easy to live with. He's an independent guy who enjoys being close to his people without demanding constant attention, often following his foster mom from room to room before settling down for a nap nearby. He loves ear scratches, belly rubs, and kind words, rarely barks, sleeps through the night, rides well in the car, and has done great at the vet. He's still working on house training and leash manners, but he's eager to learn and responds best to praise and encouragement.
Pluto gets along beautifully with his foster sister and enjoys an occasional game of chase or tug before returning to his favorite activity—sniffing! Walks are the highlight of his day, and he explores the world one fascinating scent at a time. He's curious, affectionate, and playful in short bursts, but overall has a medium energy level that makes him an easy companion.
Pluto would thrive with a patient family that will continue building his confidence and helping him learn what it means to be a beloved family dog. A home with a yard would be ideal, and older children or a quieter household would likely suit him best. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion with a sweet soul and so much love to give, Pluto is ready to start the next chapter of his story with you.
