Meet Pepper
Pepper has been in rescue for almost six months, and we’re excited to share her brand-new update celebrating how far she has come and how much her personality has blossomed.
After being under-cared for and living life on a chain, she has been steadily healing both physically and emotionally. With good food, good medical care, and a whole lot of love, Pepper has healed and now has a sleek, shiny, gorgeous black coat. She knows she looks fabulous now, and honestly, she’s right.
Pepper is a smart, sensitive girl who is deeply loyal. She takes her job of looking out for her humans seriously, so if someone’s at the door, she’ll let you know! She’s also been working with a trainer to help her feel more confident, especially when navigating new or busy environments. She has made a lot of progress and is excited to keep learning with a new family who will cheer her on.
Once Pepper knows she is safe, she warms up and her personality pops out like confetti: goofy wiggles, happy prances, and her favorite game of hide and seek.
Why Pepper is a Gem:
Pepper is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and loves wholeheartedly. She’s sensitive, thoughtful, and full of charm. Her ideal home would be one with loving, patient humans who will continue helping her with confidence training and celebrate her progress along the way.
Pepper would do best in a quieter environment where she can relax, feel secure, and continue to grow. She needs guidance when encountering new situations, but with the right support, she is ready to show off her adorable, goofy, loyal side. Pepper is a medium-to-low-energy dog but she can be strong when she decides to pull on leash. This has already improved significantly through training and should continue to improve with consistent guidance.
If you’re looking for a companion who has blossomed beautifully, loves to learn, and has a whole lot of personality wrapped in a shiny black coat, Pepper might be your perfect match.

Grits – An Easygoing Gentleman Who Loves the Simple Life
Hi, I’m Grits! I’m an 11-year-old gentle soul with a calm, relaxed personality and a heart full of quiet loyalty. I’m the kind of dog who is happy just being part of your day — whether that means hanging out nearby while you relax, or enjoying some peaceful time outside.
I’m a nice balance of independent and social. I enjoy being around my people and my dog friends, but I’m also perfectly content doing my own thing. I really don’t ask for much — just a comfortable place to rest, a few treats, and a family to call my own.
I get along well with other dogs and can be playful at times, but I’m also happy to sit back and watch the younger pups run around and have their fun. One of my favorite places is the yard, where I love to stroll, relax, and soak up the sunshine.
I’m friendly, quiet, and easy to live with. I get around just fine and enjoy life at a comfortable pace. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion who will bring calm and companionship to your home, I might be the perfect match for you.

🐾 MEET NOAH! 🐾
Meet Noah, a sweet senior Lab who is settling beautifully into his foster home! Noah is friendly, affectionate, and perfectly easygoing. He has a total goofy side—he loves to toss a ball in the air, chase it, and roll on top of it. He also insists on lying down flat to drink his water!
Noah is the ultimate couch potato. He loves yard sniffs, treats, and easy strolls. He walks great on a leash, is completely house-trained, and knows "sit," "down," and "shake."
Because of his arthritis, he is looking for a low-key lifestyle. His dream home has minimal stairs and either someone home during the day or another friendly dog for company. He can get a bit nervous in new situations and isn't a fan of car rides, but once he adjusts, he is a relaxed, loyal best friend.
Noah is neutered, heartworm/tick negative, and takes daily carprofen for his joints. Give this boy a couch and some love, and he’s set for life!

Clyde

Must knows:
-
Male black lab, 2 years old and 60 lbs
-
Children ages 10+
-
Comfortable with other dogs
-
Unknown with cats
-
Medium active energy
-
Needs fenced-in yard for safe exploring
-
Confident handler
Just like his namesake, Clyde was a dog on the run! He was a stray and likely wandering around outside before being taken in by his foster family. Since then, he’s been settling into his foster home, learning good manners, and getting along nicely with his canine roommates. Once he warms up to you, he will be your partner-in-crime, by following you everywhere and requesting pets whenever your hands are free. There are times that he’ll get the zoomies and be super energetic, but he can also settle down and enjoy some much needed cuddles. While Clyde is learning the laws of the land, he will need a confident guide to help him build the confidence he needs and become comfortable in his forever home.
Clyde may take a little time to trust new people, but once he does, his loyalty runs deep. He’s looking for a patient, kind human who’ll give him space to bloom and show just how sweet and steady he can be.

-
Dog Friendly: Yes — happy with other dogs or as an only dog
-
Cat Friendly: No — not recommended with cats
-
Kids: Great with children; has been gentle and friendly with a 3-year-old
-
Home Needs: One-level living with minimal/shallow steps; fenced, mostly level yard preferred; car ramp required
Meet Ms. Maggie, a gorgeous 7-year-old Yellow Lab whose heart is every bit as big as her sweet, goofy smile. Maggie has never met a stranger. Her signature greeting is simple: wiggle, wag, and lean in for belly rubs! She is a gentle soul who is completely devoted to her humans. If you are looking for a loyal companion to shadow you around the house, snuggle on the couch, or snooze at your feet while you work, Maggie is ready to fill that position.
Daily Routine & Favorite Things
Maggie is a professional lounger. She does not need marathons, agility courses, or endless games of fetch. Instead, her perfect day consists of:
-
Leisurely strolls: Slow neighborhood walks with plenty of time for sniffing.
-
Healthy snacks: She is a huge fan of crunchy, dog-friendly veggie treats!
-
Quality downtime: Napping close to her favorite people.
Manners & Household Needs
Maggie is a true lady with excellent house manners. She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and walks beautifully on a loose leash. She knows commands like sit and come, and she settles down quietly in her crate every night.
To keep Maggie feeling her best, her future family will need to accommodate her arthritis and weight-management journey with a few simple home adjustments:
-
Step-Free Living: She needs a home with single-level living or very minimal, shallow steps to protect her joints.
-
Easy Outdoor Access: A flat, fenced-in yard is ideal for her casual potty breaks.
-
On-the-Go Assistance: Maggie absolutely loves car rides, but she requires a sturdy vehicle ramp to help her climb in and out safely.
Friends & Family
Maggie is an ideal family dog. She has a history of being incredibly gentle and patient with young children, including three-year-olds. When meeting other dogs on a leash, she might let out an excited bark to say hello, but she quickly settles down. Once introduced, she is calm, polite, and social.
Maggie is the ultimate turn-key companion—ready to bring an abundance of warmth, loyalty, and gentle companionship to a loving, accessible home.

Meet Shirley!
Available as Foster to Adopt!
Shirley is the chocolate Lab who can do it ALL! At 5 years old and 65 pounds, this sweet girl is calm, cuddly, social, and happiest just being part of the family.
👧 Kids? Absolutely! Shirley currently lives with FIVE children ranging from newborn to teenager, plus an in-home daycare. She is gentle, loving, and completely trusted around kids of all ages.
🐶 Dogs? Yes! Shirley is friendly and playful without being pushy. She knows how to respect another dog's space and would be happy as an only dog or with a canine sibling.
🐱 Cats? Yes! She lives with a cat and basically couldn't care less about it. 😂
🎾 Fetch? YES PLEASE! Shirley may be a couch potato most of the time, but bring out a ball and she will happily hype herself up for a game of fetch. Then she's perfectly content to go back to being your snuggle buddy.
Shirley is also house-trained, walks nicely on leash, loves treats, and is an all-around easygoing girl. She doesn't require a fenced yard and could fit into either a quiet home or a busy family household.
She does have a few silly Lab tendencies—she thinks the trash and kitty litter box are gourmet dining opportunities—so those will need to be kept safely out of reach. 😂 She also has some hip stiffness that LRGR will have evaluated once she enters Foster to Adopt.
Her temperament evaluator summed her up beautifully: “She would do well anywhere.” ❤️
If you're looking for a sweet, adaptable chocolate Lab who is ready to be your best friend, Shirley would love to meet you!
