Meet Pepper
Pepper has been in rescue for almost six months, and we’re excited to share her brand-new update celebrating how far she has come and how much her personality has blossomed.
After being under-cared for and living life on a chain, she has been steadily healing both physically and emotionally. With good food, good medical care, and a whole lot of love, Pepper has healed and now has a sleek, shiny, gorgeous black coat. She knows she looks fabulous now, and honestly, she’s right.
Pepper is a smart, sensitive girl who is deeply loyal. She takes her job of looking out for her humans seriously, so if someone’s at the door, she’ll let you know! She’s also been working with a trainer to help her feel more confident, especially when navigating new or busy environments. She has made a lot of progress and is excited to keep learning with a new family who will cheer her on.
Once Pepper knows she is safe, she warms up and her personality pops out like confetti: goofy wiggles, happy prances, and her favorite game of hide and seek.

Pepper is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and loves wholeheartedly. She’s sensitive, thoughtful, and full of charm. Her ideal home would be one with loving, patient humans who will continue helping her with confidence training and celebrate her progress along the way.

She needs guidance when encountering new situations, but with the right support, she is ready to show off her adorable, goofy, loyal side. Pepper is a medium-to-low-energy dog but she can be strong when she decides to pull on leash. This has already improved significantly through training and should continue to improve with consistent guidance.

Grits – An Easygoing Gentleman Who Loves the Simple Life
Hi, I’m Grits! I’m an 11-year-old gentle soul with a calm, relaxed personality and a heart full of quiet loyalty. I’m the kind of dog who is happy just being part of your day — whether that means hanging out nearby while you relax, or enjoying some peaceful time outside.
I’m a nice balance of independent and social. I enjoy being around my people and my dog friends, but I’m also perfectly content doing my own thing. I really don’t ask for much — just a comfortable place to rest, a few treats, and a family to call my own.
I get along well with other dogs and can be playful at times, but I’m also happy to sit back and watch the younger pups run around and have their fun. One of my favorite places is the yard, where I love to stroll, relax, and soak up the sunshine.
I’m friendly, quiet, and easy to live with. I get around just fine and enjoy life at a comfortable pace. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion who will bring calm and companionship to your home, I might be the perfect match for you.

If your ideal dog is one who simply wants to do life with you, Marley would like to apply for the position.
Marley is a calm, affectionate girl whose favorite place is wherever her person happens to be. Working at your desk? She'll settle nearby. Watching TV? She's ready for the couch. Going for a leisurely walk? Grab the leash. Heading out in the car? Even better—Marley loves a road trip.
She doesn't need a packed activity schedule to be happy. Give her a comfortable place beside you, plenty of affection, and regular reminders that she is, in fact, the best girl, and Marley is pretty content with life.
She's also wonderfully easy to live with. Marley is house-trained, walks nicely on leash, sleeps well, isn't a frequent barker, and has done well when left home alone. She doesn't currently need a crate, and a fenced yard isn't necessary. She enjoys leisurely walks, playing a gentle game of fetch, and spending quality time with her favorite stuffed ET toy.
Marley knows sit and shake, comes when called, and is food motivated if you'd like to teach her a few more tricks. She can be a little nervous in new situations, but we've watched her blossom from an uncertain shelter dog into a happy girl who absolutely adores her people.
When it comes to other dogs, Marley prefers having her people to herself. She has lived with another dog in foster care with careful introductions and management, but some interactions make her uncomfortable. We think she'll be happiest as the only dog in her forever home.
Marley isn't looking for a dog park buddy or a jam-packed social calendar. She's looking for her person—someone who wants a devoted companion beside them for the ordinary parts of life.
And Marley happens to think those are the best parts.

Building Her Confidence
The world can still feel a bit big and scary for Erma. Loud noises, heavy traffic, and strangers can make her nervous. When she gets overwhelmed, she might bark or pull away—she isn't being difficult; she's just asking for your help!
Her foster family has done amazing work using positive-reinforcement training (like pattern games and a "Let's Go" cue) to help her navigate scary moments. Once Erma has a moment to look around and realize she is safe, her sweet personality shines right through.
Her Perfect Match
Erma is looking for a patient, positive-reinforcement-savvy adopter who understands that confidence takes time. Because she likes a predictable routine and is sensitive to noise, a quiet, peaceful suburban or rural home is a must.
Erma won't be the dog who greets every stranger at the door with a wagging tail. She is the dog who watches, learns, and carefully decides, "Okay... I think you're my person." And once she makes that choice? She is all in, loyal, and will love you with her whole heart.

Gus is a big, handsome yellow Lab with an even bigger heart. At approximately 6 years old, this gentle giant is ready to trade his outdoor kennel for a home where he can finally be part of the family.
Gus has spent his entire life living in an outdoor kennel, so the world of being a family dog is still pretty new to him. But despite his limited exposure to life outside the kennel, Gus has shown us just how sweet, gentle, and willing to learn he is.
When first approached, Gus was excited and vocal, but once he was out with his evaluator, he settled into the role of a very good boy. He walked beautifully on leash and responded well to his handler. He even took direction when given a gentle correction during a water break—a great sign that Gus is listening and eager to please.
And Gus knows what he likes! Give this boy some water and he is one happy Lab. The more water, the better. Whether it's a pool, pond, creek, or sprinkler, Gus is ready to make a splash.He's also a big fan of affection. During his evaluation, Gus rolled onto his back and offered his belly for a good rub.
Treats were another definite favorite, and he was happy to work for them. Gus was also wonderful around the evaluator's dogs. He showed no aggression or inappropriate behavior toward either dog and remained calm and friendly.There is something especially endearing about Gus. He has the distinguished look of a sweet old gentleman, but underneath that big exterior is a dog who is discovering how wonderful it is to receive attention, affection, treats, and time with people.Gus has spent six years waiting for his life to really begin. Now he's ready for a family who will show him all the good things he's been missing—and give this gentle giant the love he's always deserved.
